The Beach Log Home  is centrally located for day trips to many points of interest on Vancouver Island including horseback riding and cave spelunking at Horne Lake Provincial Park. Our vacation home is centrally located for sight seeing and winery tours, treks through pristine forest trails, or a day at one of our local spas. Skiing at Mt Washington is only 30 minutes away and there are sixteen golf courses within an hours drive from our vacation rental. Tofino and Ucluelet, BC – 2.5 hours west of Shady Shores Beach Resort

Tofino and Ucluelet are located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island and are home to Long Beach and the West Coast Trail. Enjoy the ocean, forests, hiking, storm watching and whale migration.

Nanaimo, BC – 45 minutes south of Shady Shores Beach Resort
Nanaimo is where the BC ferry links to Vancouver and it is also the home of the International Bathtub Race. There is great shopping and golf in this coastal BC city.

Victoria, BC – 2 hours south of Shady Shores Beach Resort
The beautiful city of Victoria is where the ferry links to Vancouver, Gulf Islands, and Port Angeles. The “Flower Capital of Canada”, shoppers delight with the varying specialty shops. With a reverence for the past, Victoria boasts  many fine museums and art galleries.

Comox and Courtenay, BC – 30 minutes north of Shady Shores Beach Resort
The Comox Valley is renowned for its beauty and boasts that you can swim, ski and golf all in one day. View the glacier from beautiful Mt. Washington Ski Resort, the gateway to Strathcona Park. Hike, bike, ski or golf at one of the many recreation facilities available in this community.

Parksville and Qualicum, BC – 25 minutes and 10 minutes respectively
Visitors to this area will enjoy the sandy beaches which are warm and clean. Up from the beach, the township offers a mix of gift shops, galleries, boutiques and restaurants.

Horne Lake, BC – 30 minutes west of Shady Shores Beach Resort
Horne Lake Park presents a wide variety of activities both above and below ground. There are hiking trails, cave spelunking, and horseback riding.

Campbell River, BC – 1 hour north of Shady Shores Beach Resort
Campbell River is historically known as the “Salmon Capital of the World”. You will also enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching, Grizzly Bear tours and of course fishing.

Coombs, BC – 20 minutes west of Shady Shores Beach Resort
The Coombs market is well known for the family of goats which graze on its grass roof. Visit Butterfly World or the exotic birds at Emerald Forest. Nearby is the old growth forest of Cathedral Grove. Picnic at Qualicum Falls or Englishman River Falls.

MacMillan Park – Cathedral Grove – 40 minutes west of Shady Shores Beach Resort
This wondrous display of 800 year old trees has been undergoing the restoration of its trails since a major wind storm damaged several sections of the park.

Hornby Island – 45 minutes east by car and ferry from Shady Shores Beach Resort
Hornby Island, one of the gulf islands, is located 75km north of Nanaimo, off the east coast of Vancouver Island. This picturesque island is a nature lovers delight with plenty of trails and sandy beaches to explore and enjoy.

Chemainus – 1.5 hours south from Shady Shores Beach Resort
“The little town that did”. Over 400,000 visitors annually enjoy more then 30 world famous murals in this picturesque little town.

COVID-19 Information and UpdatePlease read regarding reservations and cancellations

In wake of the COVID19 pandemic, we are no longer taking reservations for stays before April 21, 2020. We want to do our part to flatten the curve and keep people safe. Please note, all previously confirmed reservations will be honored.

We ask that you take the necessary precautions, and wear gloves and mask before entering the Office upon check-in or during your stay.

Any reservations made after April 21, 2020, will follow the cancellation policies that are in place.  If you are unsure, we recommend you purchase cancellation insurance.

In addition, if you have made a reservation that needs to be canceled due to the COVID19 virus, we encourage you to read the cancellation policy for your booking. We will be following our cancellation policy, however, in these uncertain times, any non-refundable deposit may be applied to a future booking. You can request to apply those funds toward a future stay with the following restrictions:

The stay must be completed before December 31, 2020;
The stay cannot occur over a statutory holiday, or between June 22, 2020, to Sept  10, 2020; and
The stay must be booked directly through our web site or over the phone.
